The roof is equipped with 480 high-performance solar panels, enabling the centre to produce its own green electricity. Sustainability at the Atoll Achensee goes beyond energy generation. The facility features smart lighting controls and water-saving devices, while heat recovery systems are used in the kitchens and cold rooms. The leisure centre also works closely with suppliers and visitors to promote eco-friendly behaviors. By collaborating with suppliers, the Atoll Achensee has successfully reduced the volume of packaging. Pool chemicals and cleaning products are delivered in reusable containers, and chemicals are only used when legally required. Visitors are encouraged to travel and explore responsibly, with amenities like a bus stop, electric car charging stations, and 150 bicycle parking spaces available for those who prefer to explore the scenic shores of Lake Achensee by bike.
The commitment to sustainability also extends to the outdoor areas. In a pilot project with the Tirolean Environmental Ombudsman, the green spaces have been planted with perennials to avoid the need for annual replanting. The lighting concept was developed in line with “The Plight with Light” initiative to minimize light pollution. And instead of scrapping the old Achensee steamship St. Benedikt, it has been converted into an outdoor adventure play ship for young visitors. All these measures contribute to running the Atoll Achensee with maximum energy and resource efficiency, paving the way for a more mindful economy.
